Afternoon seminar and book release: The energy efficient shipping sector

19 April, 2016 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm

A vessel’s energy consumption has become increasingly important in shipping. Reduced energy consumption reduces the environmental impact of shipping and lowers operating costs. This spring new unique research on shipping efficiency is released when PhD Students Francesco Baldi and Hannes Johnson will defend their doctoral thesis and on Tuesday 19 April Lighthouse arrange a popularised seminar on energy efficiency in shipping. Questions that will be discussed are for instance “How can simulation of a ships energy consumption be used for optimizing ship design and operation?” and “what is best practice for shipping companies who want to become more energy efficient and bridge the energy efficiency gap?”. THE EVENT IS FULLY BOOKED.

Several researchers and industry representatives will participate in the seminar and based on their own area contribute to exciting and relevant discussions on how shipping can become more energy efficient.

The seminar will be followed by mingle and book release for the book “Shipping and the Environment” – a book about the environmental effects of shipping and possible solutions. The mingle will start with at conversation with the authors.

Welcome to discuss and listen to the latest in energy efficiency!
