Information meeting about Lighthouse trainee programme 2022-2023 – Chalmers, Göteborg

We are now interested to meet with you online and share information about the upcoming programme period and the application process. There will also be presentations by company representatives.

What? Lighthouse is a collaboration platform which gathers leading maritime stakeholders through Triple-Helix collaboration between industry, society, academia and institutes for research, development and innovation within the maritime sector. Since 2014, the Swedish maritime industry joins forces to put together a trainee programme managed by Lighthouse. The trainee programme is an opportunity for recently graduated naval architects to get work experience (paid) during 12 months at 3-4 different companies. Over the years that the programme has been running, participating companies has for example been designers and consultancy companies, yards and manufacturers, classification societies, authorities and shipping companies. For the period of 2022-2023, participation is confirmed by Alfa Laval, Stena Marine, Wallenius Marine, BERG Propulsion, SSPA, Kongsberg, Floatel, The Swedish Maritime Administration, Saab Kockums and MacGregor.
Caroline Ferning, coordinator at Lighthouse, will give a brief presentation of the programme and then hand over to some of the participating companies, who will give you an insight into their respective organization and an idea of what trainees are tasked with during the programme:
- Amrita Singh and Mattias Klingståhl, Technical Sales Engineers at BERG Propulsion. BERG Propulsion is one of the world’s leading designers and producers of propellers, thrusters and system integration with their headquarters at Hönö outside Gothenburg. Berg Propulsion is a solutions provider developing, manufacturing, servicing and supporting advanced propellers systems for ocean-going merchant ships and workboats worldwide. With a focus on controllable pitch propellers, azimuth and tunnel thrusters and control systems, Berg also provides electrical system integration to offer customers complete solutions to meet their propulsion needs.
- Alexander Östberg, technical manager at Floatel. Floatel provide reliable and high performance Floatels, designed for deep waters and hostile environments all around the world. Established in 2006, Floatel provide top quality offshore Floatels for extreme conditions. With headquarters in Bermuda, Floatel International Ltd. has a Gothenburg subsidiary, Floatel International AB, for onshore operational support and supervision.
- The former trainee Claes Tretow will present his experience from the trainee programme 17/18. Claes did a part of the trainee program at Stena Teknik, where he now works as Naval Architect. Stena Teknik is an expert function, which provides marine technical solutions for all marine-related business areas in the Stena sphere. They carry out newbuilding projects, from conceptual ideas to newbuildings ready for operation. Their solutions create added value and increase competitiveness throughout the Stena sphere. The Stena Teknik team offers cutting edge competence in marine technology.
