What? Lighthouse is a collaboration platform which gathers leading maritime stakeholders through Triple-Helix collaboration between industry, society, academia and institutes for research, development and innovation within the maritime sector. Since 2014, the Swedish maritime industry joins forces to put together a trainee programme managed by Lighthouse. The trainee programme is an opportunity for recently graduated naval architects to get work experience (paid) during 12 months at 3-4 different companies. Over the years that the programme has been running, participating companies has for example been designers and consultancy companies, yards and manufacturers, classification societies, authorities and shipping companies. For the period of 2022-2023, participation is confirmed by Alfa Laval, Stena Marine, Wallenius Marine, BERG Propulsion, SSPA, Kongsberg, Floatel, The Swedish Maritime Administration, Saab Kockums and MacGregor.

Caroline Ferning, coordinator at Lighthouse, will give a brief presentation of the programme and then hand over to some of the participating companies, who will give you an insight into their respective organization and an idea of what trainees are tasked with during the programme:
