Are you curious about the Swedish maritime industry and eager to gain work experience during your studies? Then you should apply for a summer job in the Swedish maritime sector through Lighthouse! About the Program
Lighthouse now offers the opportunity to apply for dedicated summer jobs if you are about to start or are currently in your first year of a master’s program in naval architecture. Through the Lighthouse summer job program, you get the chance to gain work experience within Sweden’s maritime sector at leading companies in the industry during your studies. This opportunity is exclusively for students in naval architecture and is not open to other fields of study.
This year, five companies from the Swedish maritime industry are participating in the Lighthouse summer job program: FKAB Marine Design, Stockholms Reparationsvarv, Stena Teknik, Berg Propulsion, and Wallenius Marine. At the bottom of the page, you can read more about these companies and what they can offer you as a summer employee.

Time Period
Students who are accepted for a summer job must be available to start work on June 9 and be able to work for at least five weeks. There are opportunities for the hiring company and the candidate to agree on different start dates and possible extensions of the work period.
Contract and Salary
Students who are accepted for a summer job will be employed by the company where they are placed. The salary is 28,000 SEK per month.
Qualifications
- Ongoing master’s studies in naval architecture, or planning to start a master’s program in naval architecture in the fall of 2025
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good communication skills and ability to collaborate
- Strong initiative and ability to take responsibility
- Excellent proficiency in English, both spoken and written; Swedish is not a requirement but is considered a merit
- Some positions are security-classified, and a security clearance will be conducted

Stockholms Reparationsvarv AB, SRVAB, is a repair yard that offers services to local shipping, both national and international shipping companies. We offer work in a changing repair yard environment where the working day is characterized by a high pace with short decision-making paths. The company is located on Beckholmen on the beautiful and scenic Djurgården in Stockholm. SRVAB currently has around 80 employees. In addition, we employ a varying number of subcontractors depending on current occupancy.
The repair yard's operations take place along the quays and in the docks on Beckholmen, the repair yard's main activity is to rebuild, modify, repair and carry out maintenance work on ships of all sizes. Examples of our customers: The Armed Forces, the Swedish Maritime Administration, the Coast Guard, Swedish and international shipping companies of various sizes.
Stockholms Repairyard is looking for Summer Worker for its technical department
We are looking for a driven and committed summer worker for our technical office at the shipyard in Stockholm. You will participate in quotation work, prepare complex projects and produce drawings. This is a unique opportunity to gain insight into and contribute to exciting projects in shipping. You will gain practical experience in the shipping industry and the opportunity to work on exciting and challenging projects. In addition, we offer a dynamic and educational work environment in central Stockholm.
The position is placed in security class and requires that you have Swedish citizenship.
Our regular working hours are: Monday-Thursday 07:00-16:00, Friday 07:00-13:30

The assignment
The role offers technical work or a study within one of the areas marine engineering, hydromechanics, structures & materials or energy transition. We offer possibilities to visit our vessels operating just outside the office building, to speak with the crews onboard and see vessels in the eyes of an end-user.
Normal working hours over the summer are Monday-Friday, 08:00-16:00, and we are located at Stena Headquarters in Gothenburg.

During your time with us, we will give an insight into how a design process works and which different steps in the process are carried out at different stages. We will also give an insight into what the different departments have for specialist skills and what their work can look like. Job Description
In this position, you are expected to function as a mechanical engineer which requires a deep interest in detailed design. You will create 3D models as well as manufacturing drawings in Solidworks. We believe you are a team player who, together with the team, wants to drive product knowledge and our new as well as our existing products forward. You have a deep engineering interest, and you have the capability to communicate your technical expertise in different contexts. You have a strong technical knowledge and studying a BSc or MSc in mechanical engineering or relevant field. You have good communication skills, verbally and in writing, in English. Basic Swedish is an advantage but no requirement.

Wallenius Marine is a shipping company based in Stockholm that provides Ship Management, Ship Design, and services related to newbuilding of vessels, primarily within the Ro-Ro and PCTC segments.
